The Hidden Beauty of Kranji

John Tan and Raymond Toh of Esmond Landscape again proved their design skills by winning a Silver Gilt Award at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015, the biggest and the grandest of all the flower shows in the world. Chelsea Flower Show was held on the 19th to 23rd of May 2015 at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London.

Together with Esmond Landscape and Uniseal, the duo showcased their design inspired by Singapore’s countryside, Kranji. The garden features a variety of tropical plants and trees commonly found in Singapore. The lush greenery is then complimented with vibrant and colorful orchids, imported directly from Singapore to London. The heart of the garden is a rusty pavilion with a roof garden and a distinct aluminum strips on both sides. The most eye-catching feature of the garden is the 4 meter high, multi-level waterfall. Structured like a cliff, the waterfall is covered with dense vertical greenery and decorated with the bright colored bromeliads.

This is the first time a Singapore Team joined the show garden competition at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The event is highly patronized by gardening enthusiasts around the world. It is often graced by the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the Royal Family. Celebrities and VIPs also showed up at the Flower show for a special viewing prior to the official opening.

The garden received good reviews and favorable comments from the visitors and the press. It was featured on BBC and has been in the centerfold of the London Evening Standard.
